Position Summary
The Chemistry department at theUniversity of New Mexico (UNM) anticipates hiring Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduateand graduate level courses in the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025.
Anticipated openings will be for Adjunctswho can teach courses in a broad range of subject areas, including but notlimited to the subject areas covered in the following UNM courses:
CHEM301 - Organic Chemistry I
CHEM302 - Organic Chemistry II
Please consult the UNM Catalog fordescriptions of these courses.
The Chemistry department is seeking qualifiedtemporary part time faculty members to teach undergraduate and/or graduatelevel classes in various disciplines as specified above. Instructors areresponsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching. Responsibilitieswill include but not be limited to meeting with the class during assignedtimes, delivering the course curriculum, developing and grading assignments,reporting grades, and assessing student learning outcomes as outlined by the Chairof the department or Director of the program.
Positions are contingent upon needeach semester as determined by student enrollment levels, courses on thecurrent course schedule, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline forstudents to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for thesepositions will report to the Chair of the Chemistry department.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: To teach courses as described aboveare determined by Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirements forfaculty, and must be met by one of these ways
- PhD or higher in Chemistry or subfield for which you are applying;
Preferred Qualifications: - Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching undergraduate organic chemistry courses
- Successful experience teaching courses using a variety of teaching modalities (such as Face-to-Face, Remote, and Fully Online)
- A demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and cooperation with faculty colleagues
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
