Job Summary:

Nourison is seeking a talented and creative Textile Rug Designer specializing in area rugs and accent rugs . This position will be located on site in Saddle Brook, NJ location. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing innovative and functional rug collections that reflect current design trends while maintaining a unique aesthetic that appeals to various market segments. The designer will collaborate with production teams to bring designs to life, ensuring that all technical specifications are met for the creation of high-quality, durable rugs. Strong attention to detail, a passion for textile design, and the ability to translate artistic concepts into commercial products are essential for success in this role. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make an impact in the growing market of home décor, particularly in the dynamic world of floor coverings.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Design Creation :
   • Develop original rug designs, including patterns, color schemes, textures, and layouts.
   • Use design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) to create digital patterns and visual mockups.
   • Research market trends and materials to ensure designs are modern and appealing.
2. Material Selection :
   • Select suitable fabrics, fibers, and dyes based on the design vision, durability, and functionality requirements.
   • Work closely with suppliers to source high-quality materials and maintain sustainable practices.
3. Prototyping and Sampling :
   • Collaborate with manufacturers to produce initial rug samples and prototypes.
   • Make design adjustments based on prototype testing and feedback.
4. Client Interaction :
   • Work directly with clients to understand their specific needs, preferences, and project requirements.
   • Provide design recommendations and help clients visualize the final product.
5. Production Oversight :
   • Supervise the production process, ensuring the final rug design adheres to original specifications.
   • Ensure design quality, durability, and consistency across multiple productions.
6. Trend Analysis :
   • Stay up to date with the latest trends in interior design, fashion, and textile arts.
   • Analyze customer feedback and adjust future designs based on industry shifts and preferences.
7. Project Management :
   • Manage design timelines, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and within budget.
   • Coordinate with sales teams to ensure that the final product meets the marketing and commercial goals.

Qualifications :

• Education : Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience : 2+ years of experience in textile or rug design, preferably in the interior decor industry.
• Skills :
  • Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of textiles, fibers, and their properties.
  • Attention to detail with a creative eye for color, patterns, and textures.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with clients, suppliers, and team members.
• Desirable : Experience working with National Retailers in the Home Textile sector
