Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Schedule: 3 days/week, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Weekly Breakdown:
Weekly Gross: $2,294.00 Per Week
On W2(Taxable): $684.00 Per Week
Stipend(Non-Taxable): $1,610.00 Per Week
Position Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide safe, evidence-based, and compassionate care in the Psychiatric Emergency Unit at Mount Sinai West. This role supports the Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Unit and requires floating to Adult Psych, Geri-Psych, and CPEP units as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Deliver relationship-centered nursing care based on the nursing process, theory, and research.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive care planning and delivery.
Provide patient and caregiver education regarding treatment plans and discharge readiness.
Document all patient care accurately in EPIC.
Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
Practice active listening, empathy, and service recovery when needed.
Conduct Purposeful Hourly Rounding and Bedside Shift Reports.
Engage in quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Maintain compliance with institutional and legal standards.
Facilitate patient flow and coordinate with leadership for staffing or material needs.
Participate in shared governance and unit initiatives.
Requirements:
Education : BSN required (or ADN with significant experience and BSN enrollment).
Licensure : Active NYS RN License
Certifications :
BLS (Basic Life Support)
CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or PMCS Certification
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience
1 year of travel experience preferred (for travel positions)
EPIC EHR experience strongly preferred
Other: Must complete SEL and SCR onboarding forms.
