Overview


We are seeking a skilled Back-End Web Application Developer to help modernize and scale a large web platform. This role focuses on breaking down legacy systems into modular, API-driven services while contributing to the design of reliable, cloud-native solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable applications in an Agile environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the modernization of a legacy application by decomposing it into domain-aligned services and APIs.

  • Design, develop, and maintain back-end services using a modern PHP framework and ORM technology.

  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs with an emphasis on consistency, testing, documentation, and version control.

  • Integrate and consume external services and APIs, ensuring reliability, performance, and security.

  • Partner with infrastructure and operations teams to design and support cloud-based architectures.

  • Develop and deploy containerized applications using Docker and manage them through orchestration platforms.

  • Support automated build, test, and deployment pipelines to enable reliable software delivery.

  • Utilize infrastructure-as-code practices to create repeatable and maintainable environments.

  • Participate in architectural discussions, code reviews, and technical planning sessions.

  • Work within an Agile framework, contributing to sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Collaborate with product, quality, and data teams to ensure feature alignment and system integrity.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional experience in back-end development using PHP and a modern MVC framework.

  • Strong understanding of service-oriented or microservice-based architectures and API-first design.

  • Experience deploying and supporting applications in a major cloud environment (AWS or equivalent).

  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies and container orchestration platforms.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automated deployment workflows.

  • Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools to manage cloud resources.

  • Solid understanding of external API integration patterns, including error handling and rate limiting.

  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum-based development teams.

  • Strong knowledge of software design principles, version control systems, and code quality standards.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must reside in Florida or Texas .

Preferred Qualifications
  • Cloud platform certifications (e.g., developer or solutions architect level).

  • Experience with modern PHP frameworks, ORMs, and current framework versions.

  • Exposure to serverless or event-driven architectures.

  • Familiarity with messaging systems or asynchronous processing patterns.

  • Experience with application monitoring and observability tools.

  • Understanding of cloud security best practices, including identity management and encryption.

  • Previous experience mentoring developers or providing technical leadership within a team.
