Under general supervision, this position is responsible for all aspects of the paint application process, minor repairs, sanding, grinding, and paint preparation. On as needed basis, also responsible for Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II, Flow Inventory Associate II, Senior Reconditioning Associate, and Senior Reconditioning Associate I duties. Principal Duties and Responsibilities include completing paint application, minor repairs including sanding and grinding, paint preparation including color matching and mixing, participating in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities with team, executing standardized work as defined, ensuring all vehicles meet CarMax Paint Standards, maintaining, repairing, and cleaning equipment as required, ensuring proper inventory levels of all personal protective equipment, tools, and chemicals required to carry out paint process for all Senior Reconditioning Associates, ensuring workplace cleanliness and organization in accordance with CarMax 5S standards, providing outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers, interior and exterior detailing, interior repair, inventory, and paint preparation functions, and completing duties as assigned by Managers. Job specifications require New Associate Orientation Training - Operations, accountability to Associate 1 Competency Model, Kronos Training for Hourly Associates, meeting performance standards for various reconditioning associate levels, successful completion of workstation certifications, ability to read, interpret and transcribe data, discern appropriate paint colors, perform multiple duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment, lift objects up to 50lbs, effective communication skills, and completion of CarMax provided training in all functional areas of reconditioning process. Working conditions include indoor and outdoor environments, possible noisy and/or inclement weather conditions, adherence to CarMax policies and government regulations including OSHA and EPA standards, walking or standing for extended periods, variable work schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and 12+ hour days, and use of personal protective equipment and proper waste disposal.
