About the Job

Position Overview

This is a part-time, casual role (up to 14 hours per week) with no set end date. This project may take several months to a year, depending on how many files and people are involved. The best candidate will understand DirectCourse and its goals, which will help them make sense of the materials. Additional tasks may be assigned during or after the project.The main job is to work with the editorial team and other ICI employees to A) Find, organize, and purge the important electronic files related to DirectCourse and B) Create clear and agreed upon guidelines for how files should be stored and managed

About DirectCourse: DirectCourse is a mission-driven, online training product developed by the Institute on Community Integration (ICI). ICI is the University of Minnesota's Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). DirectCourse supports quality in long-term services and supports (LTSS) for people with disabilities, mental health conditions, and older adults. Training content is person-centered, community-based and inclusion-focused. This product has grown through many years of effort. Since 1999, many staff and outside partners have collaborated to make DirectCourse what it is today. As a result, there are hundreds of files stored on various servers, hard drives, and shared drives. These files need to be identified and organized to improve access and efficiency for the DirectCourse team.

Position competencies:
  • Planning & Organizing: Ability to work with others to set goals and meet timelines in a fast-paced, decentralized environment. Develop simple and clear methods for organizing materials.
  • Communication: Communicate clearly in writing and speaking. Facilitate group communications and record decisions accurately. Ensure everyone is heard and concerns are managed when setting up systems and managing files.

Job Responsibilities

Project Coordination (80%)

Facilitate a large and dispersed team to organize and manage files related to DirectCourse, including documents from the past 25+ years. Tasks include:
  • Finding out where files are stored and who is responsible for them.
  • Creating a system for organizing and controlling access to these files.
  • Cleaning up and organizing files based on the new system.
  • Documenting the rules for how files should be managed.
  • Schedule meetings using Google Calendar and keep track of important information and follow-ups.
  • Set deadlines for tasks and work with your supervisor to adjust them as needed.
Editorial Team Support (10%)
  • Join weekly editorial meetings.
  • Share updates on your work and ask for feedback.
  • Help with other editorial tasks when needed.
Other Duties (10%)
  • Help with other DirectCourse-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some college experience or similar training
  • At least 3 years of paid work experience in long-term services and supports (LTSS) or similar field
  • Able to learn and use software needed for the job
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English
  • Able to work well with a team on complex or ongoing projects
  • Able to organize a large amount of information in a way that helps others
  • Able to work respectfully with people from different communities, backgrounds, and identities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Multilingual or multicultural, especially Spanish/Latine
  • Experience working with DirectCourse products
  • Previous experience in editorial work
  • Paid experience as a direct support professional (DSP) serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD)

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: The budgeted hourly range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00 per hour. Final offers are dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity within the department.

Time Appointment: 25%

Position Type: Temp/Casual
