Litigation Assistant (Sacramento, CA)

About the Opportunity

A leading full-service business law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join its Sacramento or San Francisco office. This position offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic litigation team supporting attorneys who handle complex business, commercial, and civil matters.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and highly detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced legal environment. This role is essential to ensuring seamless case management, document coordination, and client communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, proofread, and finalize litigation documents, including pleadings, discovery, motions, and correspondence.

  • Perform electronic filing in both state and federal courts while ensuring compliance with filing rules and deadlines.

  • Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including scheduling depositions, hearings, mediations, and client meetings.

  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors.

  • Track case-related deadlines and coordinate timely follow-up on pending tasks.

  • Organize and maintain case files and electronic documents using firm-approved systems (such as iManage or similar DMS).

  • Prepare billing materials, expense reports, and assist with time entry.

  • Provide general administrative support as needed, including handling correspondence and coordinating travel logistics.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience in a law firm setting, supporting multiple attorneys.

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of California state and federal court procedures, filing requirements, and litigation terminology.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Experience with iManage or similar legal document management systems.

  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.

  • A proactive mindset with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
