School-Based Sign Language Interpreter

The ideal candidate will facilitate munication between Deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others, including teachers, peers, and staff, ensuring equal access to educational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities using American Sign Language (ASL).
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support the academic progress of students.
• Adapt interpreting style to meet the needs of the students' individual munication modes.
• Assist in promoting Deaf culture awareness and understanding within the school munity.
• Provide support in various school settings, including classrooms, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interpreting settings.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Certification from a recognized interpreting program.
• Knowledge of Deaf culture and the challenges faced by Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in educational environments..
