Job Description
The Screen Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining automatic screen printing presses This position requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to consistency and cleanliness in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Set up and align screens, inks, squeegees, and substrates on the press.
Operate automatic M&R screen printing presses
Perform test prints and quality checks to ensure alignment, color accuracy, and print quality.
Monitor production runs to ensure consistency, troubleshoot issues, and adjust settings as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area, including reclaiming and prepping screens as needed.
Ensure inks are prepared, matched to PMS colors, and used properly (plastisol).
Follow production schedules and ensure timely order completion.
Maintain accurate records of production data (e.g., quantities printed, defects, downtime).
Collaborate with team members in the art, screen, and fulfillment departments to ensure workflow efficiency.
Adhere to safety protocols and equipment guidelines.
Skills & Qualifications:
2+ years of screen printing experience (manual or automatic press operation preferred).
Understanding of mesh counts, registration, squeegee angles/durometers, and curing temperatures.
Ability to interpret work orders, layouts, and color separations.
Strong eye for detail, color accuracy, and quality control.
Physical stamina: able to stand, lift, and move garments and screens throughout shift.
Basic troubleshooting skills with presses and printing defects.
Strong time management and multitasking ability.
Preferred but Not Required:
Knowledge of specialty printing techniques: puff, foil, halftones, high-density, etc.
Experience with ink mixing, screen reclamation, and emulsion coating best practices.
Working Conditions:
Fast-paced print shop environment.
Exposure to inks, chemicals, and heat.
Standing for extended periods; lifting up to 50 lbs.
