Salary: $18.57-$20 per hour

Under the direction of the Overdose Prevention Coordinator, the Syringe Services Program (SSP) Outreach Worker is responsible for engaging with people who use drugs and other marginalized populations to reduce the harms associated with substance use. The role involves building rapport, providing compassionate and non-judgmental support, and linking clients to treatment, housing, and other critical resources.

MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Conduct outreach and recruitment of target clients
  
• Facilitate access to overdoes prevention, education, and risk reduction materials at scheduled community sites
  
• Collect encounter data and document in the NEXTRAK data system
  
• Provide referrals for HIV counseling and testing referral and Hepatitis C screening
  
• Link clients to appropriate services at FMCS and other community providers
  
• Distribute prevention information, safer sex kits, safer injection kits
  
• Document all distribution of materials and supplies
  
• Participate in all required training and supervision
  
• Conduct education session on the use of Narcan
  
• Other duties as assigned

HOURS OF WORK: 20 hours per week; evenings and weekends required

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an outreach worker. Minimum of 2 years of experience working with substance abusers and providing HIV/AIDS prevention, harm reduction education and referral services.
