About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President, Managing Director of Transit to provide strategic leadership in all transportation activities. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing utility fleet operations, equipment, and personnel, as well as outsourced transportation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the specialty hauling operation, ensuring it meets customer needs, achieves the annual business plan, and maximizes profitability. Maintaining positive relationships with both external business offerings and internal customers is also a key aspect of the position. Candidates for this role should have a BS degree in business administration or a related field, with a preference for those with experience in the operations of a multi-faceted shipping and fleet business. Experience in transportation or logistics, particularly in heavy or specialty hauling industries, and knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP, are highly desirable. The role requires a leader who can bring teams together to improve processes, train and supervise direct reports, and ensure that the transportation and fleet maintenance organizations are profitable and compliant with all regulations. The Vice President, Managing Director of Transit will also be responsible for creating engagement with professional drivers, leading a community of suppliers, and maintaining a strong service-oriented relationship with all stakeholders.
