Job Description

Our client, a leading organization in its industry, is seeking a talented Database Administrator to join their growing team. This critical role involves collaborating with various teams to design, implement, and support data initiatives. The ideal candidate will work closely with stakeholders to understand their business needs and deliver efficient, effective data solutions. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Morgantown, WV, or Houston, TX.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Maintain existing databases and data structures with a strong focus on business continuity.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, technical teams, and management to design and propose a data roadmap that prioritizes efficiency and integrity.
  • Implement data-handling methods for new data requests in compliance with best practices and standards.
  • Optimize database performance and recommend security enhancements to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Troubleshoot database issues and provide support for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assess, propose, and implement robust data recovery procedures.
  • Develop and maintain database documentation and standards.
  • Stay current with emerging database technologies and industry trends.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in SQL and a major database management system (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
  • Experience in database performance tuning, backup and recovery procedures, and security best practices.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling professional interaction with employees, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Physical requirements: capable of performing light work, such as exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and completing repetitive tasks involving manual dexterity and visual acuity.
