Position Summary:
The Patient Access Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of patient access services within the organization. This role includes managing patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and financial counseling to ensure a seamless and efficient patient experience.
Essential Functions/Job Duties
The Patient Access Director will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, interacting with patients, staff, and external stakeholders. Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities is essential.
Directly supervise the patient access and scheduling team
Recruit, train, and evaluate staff performance, providing ongoing coaching and development
Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize patient access processes
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and hospital policies
Enhance patient experience by streamlining scheduling, registration and admission processes to include a pre-registration program
Address and resolve patient concerns related to access and services
Oversee the financial aspects of patient access and scheduling, including patient estimates, upfront collections, and patient financial assistance programs
Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in patient access and scheduling technology
Skills & Abilities
Bachelors degree in healthcare administration, business administration, communications, or a related field; Experience in a healthcare setting may be substituted for education
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare setting required
Patient Access knowledge, office management or billing experience preferred
